Private LTE and 5G networks currently being deployed can be divided into three segments
IDC predicts $ 5.7 billion in private LTE and 5G infrastructure market in 2024
At IDC, LTE / 5G private infrastructure means any LTE and/or 5G network based on 3GPP, deployed for a specific corporate or industrial customer and providing dedicated access. This concept includes networks that may use dedicated (licensed, unlicensed, or shared) spectrum, dedicated infrastructure, and devices with unique SIM identifiers. Private LTE / 5G infrastructure transfers the traffic to a specific organization without using resources also used by other users.
Analysts estimate that global LTE / 5G private infrastructure equipment revenue will grow from $ 945 million in 2019 to about $ 5.7 billion in 2024. These values correspond to the average annual growth of 43.4%. This includes the aggregate costs of RAN, core, and transport infrastructure.
The private LTE and 5G networks currently being deployed can be divided into three segments. The first segment in IDC includes critical networks that require constant connection with redundancy and availability of a dedicated resource and a clear need or desire to connect to mobile objects. Loss of communication in such networks can have significant negative consequences.
The second segment of analytics is called industrial, referring to its networks, which is the automation of technological processes for Industry 4.0. It also includes providing ultra-reliable low latency communications (5G URLLC).
The third segment includes networks close to the traditional concept of “business-critical” technologies, that is, from which reliable operation is required. Still, the need for redundancy and automation is lower. In particular, such networks operate applications in which loss of connection can lead to loss of income.
