The aircraft aroused great interest abroad
For the first time in the history of modern Russia, Rostec presented the Il-76MD-90A(E) heavy transport aircraft abroad. As it became known, foreign countries showed very great interest in the model.
The general director of the Rosoboronexport concern, Alexander Mikheev, said during the Dubai Airshow exhibition that about 50 proposals for the purchase of these aircraft have already been received.
“There is a lot of interest—of course, I wouldn’t like to name the countries. Including countries from the Middle East region that want to have such a fleet of military transport aircraft, CIS countries, and countries in Southeast Asia. So far, our negotiating positions range from 40 to 50 Il-76MD aircraft with new engines, new wings and equipment,” Mikheev said.

The export modification of the Il-76MD-90A(E) is presented at the static exposition of the exhibition in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Russia has not demonstrated a car of this class at foreign showrooms for almost 30 years (since 1994).
Il-76MD-90A is a modernized model of Il-76MD. The aircraft has been updated by more than 70%. It received new PS-90A-76 engines, the latest defense system, a modernized chassis, a reinforced and lightweight wing, as well as a “glass cockpit” with multifunctional screens.
