In another accident, the Tesla Model 3 battery surprised with the radius of destruction: the scattered cells damaged neighboring houses

In another accident, the Tesla Model 3 battery surprised with the radius of destruction: the scattered cells damaged neighboring houses

The owner of a Tesla Model 3 electric car was in a serious accident, as a result of which the battery pack shattered into pieces, and the cells themselves scattered around the area. This was reported by Engadget, citing data from the Corvallis Police Department, Oregon, where the incident occurred.

According to the available data, the Tesla Model 3 driver was driving at a speed of over 160 km / h and at some point lost control. As a result, he knocked down a power line pole, a couple of small trees, and a telephone junction box. From these blows, the tightness of the battery pack of the electric vehicle was broken, because of which the cells began to scatter around the neighborhood. There are two known cases when fuel cells hit the windows of nearby houses, and in one of them, the fuel cell fell onto the bed, causing a small fire.

It is easy to guess that as a result of the accident, the electric car was completely destroyed. Moreover, one of the Model 3 tires came off on impact and crashed into a nearby house on the second-floor level, damaging the water pipes. The driver himself got out of the car on his own and even tried to escape from the scene of the accident. According to police, he was driving in a state of drug intoxication.

The city police asked the residents to pay attention to the possible appearance of battery cells in their areas since it was not possible to collect them all. Residents of Corvallis have been warned that the cells can remain hot and cause burns for up to 24 hours. In addition, they can give off toxic fumes and toxic substances.
