But the final decision still remains with the doctor.
All adult clinics in Moscow have launched a service for making a final diagnosis for a patient using artificial intelligence (AI); data about this appeared on the official portal of the mayor and government of Moscow. AI helps metropolitan therapists and general practitioners make a final diagnosis based on the patient’s electronic medical record data for the last two years. At the same time, the digital assistant does not replace the doctor, but only backs him up and offers an independent second opinion, as the source indicates.
In Moscow clinics, the final diagnosis is now made by AI
We have moved to the next stage of implementing smart algorithms: AI not only analyzes current health data – complaints about well-being and recent test results, but also evaluates retrospective information – examination reports, laboratory and instrumental studies for the last two years. All this allows you to make the diagnosis as accurately as possible.
Artificial intelligence gives a second opinion if there is a suspicion of one of 95 serious diseases that require clinical observation. These include diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure and stomach ulcers. If the AI diagnosis differs from the one made by the doctor, the system signals this. The therapist can review the diagnosis made by the digital assistant, agree with it, or make his own; the final decision is always made by a specialist. The Moscow government website states that the service’s accuracy now reaches 87%.
