Chats are end-to-end encrypted
The team behind the popular WhatsApp messenger has started to distribute a new useful feature among test participants — voice chats with up to 32 people.
The innovation is available in the latest beta version of WhatsApp 2.23.16.19 for Android. Group chat participants can now switch to voice chat by simply clicking on the corresponding icon. Any members of the group can connect to it, but the number cannot be more than 32 people.
In the test mobile WhatsApp, voice chats for 32 participants began to appear.
Unlike the existing group calling feature, group voice chats won’t make phones ring – voice chat will only “politely” notify you that the chat is available.
When all participants leave the voice chat, the session will remain active, but will automatically end after one hour. WhatsApp voice chats, like other messages, are end-to-end encrypted by default.
