This is India’s third lunar exploration vehicle.
The Russian station “Luna-25” flew to the natural satellite of the Earth, but did not land, but collapsed on it . Meanwhile, India’s lunar lander, Chandrayaan 3, is preparing for a soft landing.
Indian Space Agency began preparations for the landing of the Chandrayaan-3 station on the moon
“ The second and final deceleration maneuver lowered the orbit to an altitude of 25 and 134 km [at perigee and apogee]. The work of the systems of the apparatus will be carried out, and it will wait for dawn at the point chosen for landing. A controlled landing will begin on August 23 at around 5:45 pm [3:15 pm Moscow time], the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said.
With the help of scientific instruments, ISRO plans to conduct seismic studies of the Moon, to study the chemical and mineral composition of the regolith. The mission’s lunar rover will operate in the vicinity of the south pole of the moon for about 14 Earth days.
Chandrayaan-3 is the third lunar exploration vehicle launched by India. The first completed work in lunar orbit in 2009. The second Indian lunar mission “Chandrayan-2” in addition to launching the device into orbit provided for the landing of the Vikram module. It ended in failure, but partially, as the Chandrayaan-2 orbital station continues to work in the orbit of the Moon.
