The exoskeleton of the Asus ROG Phone 5 is a must
A few days ago, a blogger known as JerryRigEverything tested the Asus ROG Phone 5 smartphone for strength and, alas, it failed: even with a slight bending effort, the smartphone simply breaks . It would seem that even such a test is too tough, because in real life no one is trying to bend a smartphone in half, holding the edges. However, he clearly demonstrates what will happen to the smartphone if you forget it in the back pocket of your pants and try to sit down. In the case of the Asus ROG Phone 5, this is fraught with breakage. But why?
It became clear why the Asus ROG Phone 5 failed the durability test. The outer frame is weak, but the inner one is not at all
It’s simple. When disassembled by the same blogger, it turned out that the Asus ROG Phone 5 does not have an internal frame, although it is present in most smartphones. Moreover, the phone received two rechargeable batteries, with one located at the top and the other at the bottom. If the battery were single and large, it could play the role of a structural element and would not allow the smartphone to bend too much, preventing the metal frame from breaking and protecting the glass from damage. But that’s not all: a large cutout is made in the metal frame on one side for contacts to which accessories are connected, and on the other there is an antenna line. These places greatly weaken the frame – but there is no inner one at all. That is why the smartphone breaks down quite easily when it bends. And this is very similar to a design miscalculation: After all, if the manufacturer had placed the contacts for accessories, say, on the bottom edge, the frame would have been much stronger. But this is not the case. Therefore, an exoskeleton in the form of a durable case Asus ROG Phone 5 is a must. And it’s good that it comes with the smartphone.
Disassembly also clearly demonstrates how many different cables and loops are inside the ROG Phone 5. There are even more of them than in the Xiaomi Mi 11 . The blogger also noted a good cooling subsystem and a small sub-screen fingerprint scanner ROG Phone 5.
