“The regulator launched an investigation into the companies of the Apple Inc. and Amazon.com Inc “, – indicated in the message.

According to the resource Engadget, which managed to get a comment from an Amazon representative, the company is ” ready for full cooperation with the regulator .” The resource also asked Apple for comments, but at the time of this writing, there was no response.

The investigation is aimed at determining whether Apple and Amazon have entered into an agreement prohibiting the sale of Apple and Beats branded products to stores not participating in Apple’s official program. According to the Italian regulator, the existence of such an agreement harms competition in the market and harms small and medium-sized enterprises. Moreover, it can reduce the incentive for effective competition, with obvious negative consequences for consumers and businesses.

“Employees of the regulator conducted inspections at the offices of Amazon Italia Services S. rl and Apple Italia S. r. l “, – specified in the regulator.

This is far from the first suspicion of the monopoly appropriation of the market by the world’s largest companies. For example, on July 27 of this year, a hearing is scheduled for cases on violations of antitrust laws by Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. The heads of these companies are also expected to speak at them.

Apple Pay and Apple’s App Store are under investigation by the European Antitrust Commission. She also wants to conduct an audit against Amazon, which, according to the commission, violates laws related to the processing of data about sellers and their use for their own purposes.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Google may also face a new antitrust investigation this year for its desire to acquire wearable electronics maker Fitbit. Facebook, in turn, has come under the wrath of regulators in the UK and the US for purchasing the animated image service Giphy.
