“Johnny can be a bastard or be happy with everything”: Keanu Reeves talks about his work on Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt RED recently hosted its fifth live broadcast of Night City Wire. On the air, the studio showed a rather large gameplay trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 and a video dedicated to Johnny Silverhand. The developers also recorded a video with Keanu Reeves, who played the said character. The actor spoke in detail about his role and his work on the upcoming action RPG CDPR.
At the beginning of the video, Keanu Reeves said that he never worked on dubbing in such volumes. He participated in 25 sessions, and each of them lasted from four to six hours. However, the actor loves the character he has played. Keanu Reeves said that he had to record different lines for the same situations because the reaction of Silverhand depends on the user’s choice. “Johnny can be a bastard, he can be happy, or he can try to bend his line, – said the actor. – In general, a cool task, just what I’m interested in: the game as an opportunity to go in different ways, and the character as one person, but in different versions.
Then Keanu Reeves talked about working with motion capture technology. She was familiar to him from the movie “The Matrix”, so she did not seem unusual.
The actor also talked about Johnny Silverhand’s past and his character. Keanu thinks the character is perfect for him.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on December 10, 2020, on PC, PS4, Xbox One, GeForce Now, and Google Stadia. Later, there will be versions of the action RPG for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S.
