Next up is Windows 10
Microsoft has embarked on its plan to end support for the standalone Cortana voice assistant app in Windows 11. A fresh update to the app in the Microsoft Store instead of adding new features causes Cortana to stop working in Windows 11.
After installation, a fresh update simply closes the Cortana application. Apparently, Microsoft will now fully focus on its new solution based on the Windows Copilot artificial intelligence system.
“Killer” update: Microsoft disabled Cortana in Windows 11
As expected, after disabling in Windows 11, the Cortana application will come to an end in Windows 10. As noted by the thematic resource WindowsLatest, citing a source familiar with the company’s plans, this could be a matter of a few days or a week.
Cortana is the voice assistant of the Windows Phone era that debuted on the Windows 10 desktop. Cortana was Microsoft’s answer to Siri in 2014. At one time, Microsoft even published a series of commercials aimed at criticizing Apple’s voice assistant.
