Kioxia has announced the beginning of the delivery of preview samples of the thinnest 1TB embedded flash drives that meet the UFS 3.1 specification. Their thickness is 1.1 mm.

The drive case contains proprietary flash memory with a voluminous layout and a controller that corrects errors, distributes wear, converts logical addresses into physical addresses and excludes inoperative blocks from use. This makes it easier to design the system.

As for the sequential read speed, it reaches 2050 MB / s, and the sequential write speed is 1200 MB / s. Another advantage of UFS embedded flash drives is low power consumption. The combination of high capacity, high performance and low power consumption is said to make them well suited for today’s 5G-enabled mobile devices, allowing them to take advantage of next-generation networks.
