So far this is an early test build.
Google has released the first test build of the branded Chrome browser for Windows 10, which uses a new OS feature that solves the problem with the “gluttony” of the browser in relation to RAM.
Less gluttonous Google Chrome is already available for Windows 10
Google has long struggled with the excessive use of RAM in Chrome. But, despite the efforts made, the problem is still relevant.
A little over a week ago, Google confirmed plans to use SegmentHeap to solve memory problems in Chrome. And now, the company announced the availability of its support in the test build of Chrome Canary under the number 85.0.4182.0 for Windows 10.
Those interested can participate in testing. However, it should be borne in mind that Canary assemblies are very early test versions that can work unstably and contain all sorts of errors.
Microsoft has already activated support for SegmentHeap in the proprietary Edge browser based on the Chromium engine. According to Microsoft, the memory usage in the browser as a result of this step was reduced by 27%.
