It became known that different developers send annually about 5 million applications for publication in the App Store. The number of refusals to publish, according to the top manager, does not exceed 40%. For example, in 2019, 4,808,685 applications were submitted for publication in the App Store, of which 1,747,278 applications (about 36%) were rejected. According to Kosmynka, about 215,000 applications rejected in one way or another violated Apple’s current privacy policy.

Many App Store apps are automatically verified using appropriate software solutions. Thus, it is possible to weed out malicious software and products that do not comply with Apple’s general rules. In addition, more than 500 employees of the company check about 100 thousand applications by hand each week using different Apple devices for testing.

If the app is rejected, then Apple will notify the developers of the reasons for the decision. Developers have the opportunity to re-submit their product for moderation after the specified shortcomings are eliminated. In addition, developers can appeal to challenge the denial to publish a product on the App Store platform. However, according to Kosmynka, less than 1% of developers use this opportunity.

Recall that Apple has been heavily criticized for the way it handles third-party applications for the iOS platform. Among other things, the company was accused of abuse of influence in the App Store, which harms potential competitors.
