LG develops next generation digital car key

LG Innotek, the electrical components division of the South Korean LG Group, has announced the creation of a digital car key module. It is installed in the car and enables wireless data transmission between the vehicle and the smartphone, allowing it to be used instead of the car key to start the engine and to lock and unlock the doors.

The new module has received a high-precision positioning function, as well as reliable security features. According to LG Innotek, existing car digital key modules have a lower level of accuracy in terms of location and are more vulnerable to hacking.

The module created by LG Innotek is five times more accurate than existing ones, which will make it easier for drivers to find parked cars, as well as open or lock car doors and start engines using their smartphones.

According to the company, it was possible to improve the positioning accuracy due to the use of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, NFC technology, and its own algorithm. LG Innotek said it also used its own anti-tampering technology to improve the security of the module.

” The error range of the module’s positioning of the smartphone and the car has been reduced from 50 centimeters to less than 10 centimeters, ” Ryu In-soo, head of the automotive components and electronics division of the company, said in a statement.
