Life is Strange: True Colors Shows The Benefits Of Capturing Actors’ Facial Expressions With An Introductory Scene
Square Enix and Deck Nine Games have unveiled the opening scene of the upcoming adventure Life is Strange: True Colors and shared new details of the project in interviews with several portals.
Recall that the story of Life is Strange: True Colors revolves around Alex Chen, who knows how to read and absorb other people’s strong emotions. The heroine hides her “curse” from everyone, but the tragic event forces her to master her powers.
The published video is just under two minutes long and shows Alex’s conversation with a social worker – Dr. Lynn – about the past and near future of the protagonist.
In a short excerpt, viewers can observe a kaleidoscope of emotions on Alex’s face – this effect became possible thanks to the use (for the first time in the series) of full motion capture of the actors.
“It’s much closer to what you see in movies and on TV. It allows us to be more organic and natural because we now have the technology to capture, ” – the leading actor Erika Mori told Polygon.
In addition to the old techniques of depicting facial expressions, for Life is Strange: True Colors, the developers have abandoned the serial model of distribution: the game will be released immediately in its entirety.
Life is Strange: True Colors will go on sale September 10 this year for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. Pre-orders started simultaneously with the official announcement.
