Like a quality remaster: blogger launched God of War II on PC in 4K with ray tracing simulation

Enthusiasts have shown on several occasions how old games can be improved with resolution ups and mods. For example, Need for Speed: Underground was previously modernized in a similar way, but now it’s the turn of God of War II. The author of the YouTube channel Sanadsk launched an exclusive PlayStation through an emulator on a PC in 4K resolution, installed the ReShade modification (simulates some of the effects and ray tracing), and demonstrated the result.

The latest video shows that Sanadsk has significantly improved the God of War II. The game looks like it got an official to remaster. The quality of textures has improved a lot, and there is no trace of the previous “soap” backgrounds. The models of objects of the environment, enemies, and characters have also become much clearer. Even the visuals no longer hurt the eyes.

And Pascal Gilcher’s ReShade mod with RayTraced Global Illumination simulates the real-time global illumination effect that ray tracing technology adds. Thanks to this, correct shadows appeared in the game and it became visible in which areas the light from specific sources is scattered.

Recall: God of War II was released in the spring of 2007 on the PlayStation 2. Now Santa Monica Studio is working on the continuation of the series.
