Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Missing One of New York’s Major Skyscrapers Due to Copyright

The Game Informer portal drew attention to the fact that in New York, according to the superhero action game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales from Insomniac Games, one of the main skyscrapers of the city is missing.

This is the 320-meter Chrysler Building that has graced the New York skyline in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man and a host of other Marvel creations over the past decades.

It is noteworthy that in the recent remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man, the famous building remained in place, and in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the building was replaced with a nondescript skyscraper.

Since 1990, architectural objects like the Chrysler Building have been subject to copyright law, so developers need to ask permission from the intellectual property owners to add a building to a game.

SIGNA Group and RFR Holding LLC became those in March 2019. And for some reason, these companies did not want to see the Chrysler Building in the new Spider-Man game.

Sometimes negotiations over permission to use [the attractions] go nowhere, which is what happened to the Chrysler Building in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” said James Stevenson, director of public affairs at Insomniac Games.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was released on November 12 this year on PS4 and PS5. The superhero action game launched better than any other game for the new Sony console in UK retail.
