Mass Effect: Andromeda Missing New Races Due To Cosplay And Budget Limits

Writers Mass Effect 3 Neil Pollner (Neil Pollner) and Chris Hoppler (Chris Hepler), in an interview with The Gamer, explained why Mass Effect: Andromeda were so few new aliens.

According to Pollner, Mass Effect: Andromeda could not even theoretically meet the expectations of the fans. They expected too much from the game, and the developers were given a budget for only two races, including the Relics, although the team had much more ideas.

Hepler claims that he personally came up with five or six extremely ambitious alien species for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but he cannot go into details – these ideas are still the property of BioWare.

Former BioWare design director Dorian Kieken added that developers also had to think about cosplayers – jellyfish-like aliens were overboard when creating new races.

“Our ambition in Mass Effect: Andromeda was to introduce new races that would remain within the scope of cosplay. Perhaps that is why it was decided to abandon the most extravagant ideas, ” Kiken said.

Recall that Mass Effect: Andromeda disappointed both journalists and ordinary players. Despite this, the series’s continuation is already in development – so far without a name and a premiere date.

Mass Effect: Andromeda was released in March 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Since its release, the PC version has been distributed only through Origin, and only in June 2020, the game reached Steam.
