Mass Effect Legendary Edition Missing One Of Two Expansions To The Original Mass Effect

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Development Manager Mac Walters, in an interview with Game Informer, commented on the situation with the collection’s additions.

Recall that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will offer more than 40 downloadable materials for three parts of the series. Still, one addon will be missing from the collection – we are talking about Pinnacle Station for the original Mass Effect.

The expansion was created by the American Demiurge Studios’ efforts and is a set of 13 combat tests (about 2-3 hours of gameplay) at a secret Alliance military base.

According to Walters, BioWare’s efforts to get hold of the Pinnacle Station source code were an emotional swing for him. The team contacted Demiurge Studios, and they provided backups, but they were damaged.

Rebuilding BioWare’s code would have had to build the Pinnacle Station from scratch, a process that would have taken the team at least another six months. As a result, it was decided that the game was not worth the candle.

I wanted us to succeed. If only because it would mean everything the team has ever created in one package – all single content. So leaving [Pinnacle Station] overboard was heartbreaking, ” Walters said.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will sell May 14 this year for PC (Steam, Origin), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The collection will receive a collector’s edition, including a full-size helmet, but not the games themselves.
