MediaTek MT689X will be used in mid-range smartphones

Samsung announced the Exynos 1080 5nm single-chip system in early October, and it will debut in full in a couple of days. But it is already known that the Exynos 1080 includes Arm Cortex-A78 cores and an Arm Mali-G78 GPU. According to a source citing an informed Chinese insider, the upcoming MediaTek MT689X single-chip system will be similar to the Exynos 1080.

MediaTek is preparing 6nm MT689X platform with performance equal to Exynos 1080

The similarity is due to two factors: the presence of the same Cortex-A78 cores and overall performance in AnTuTu, where the Exynos 1080 scores more than 650,000 points. True, there are also differences in the form of a 6-nanometer process technology instead of a 5-nanometer one and the use of GPU Mali-G77 instead of Mali-G78. It will be all the more interesting to compare these platforms in terms of performance, since it should be the same. It can also be assumed that the MediaTek MT689X will have a built-in 5G modem, and the platform itself will be included in the line of Dimensity single-chip systems.

An insider writes that MediaTek MT689X will be used in mid-range models – priced at about $ 300. The release date of the platform has not yet been announced.
