Microsoft confirms Windows 21H1 update will be minor

In the first half of this year, Microsoft will release a Windows 21H1 update for its software platform. Earlier, there were reports that this update will be minor and will not bring with it many new features but will focus on fixing known issues and improving the OS’s stability. Now it became known that Microsoft has officially confirmed this status for Windows 21H1.

In its documentation for hardware partners, Microsoft indicated that Windows 10 21H1 would be based on “the same principles as 20H2.” It is also noted that the developers will not make any changes to the hardware compatibility documentation with the new version of the operating system. This means that Windows 10 21H1 will be compatible with all computers, drivers, and applications compatible with Windows 10 20H2, which is the most current version of the platform.

The source notes that even with Microsoft’s announcement, the update may still bring some minor features to consumers, but it will still focus on fixing issues. The update process will be as simple as possible for those who use Windows 10 20H2 and regularly install cumulative update packages. It is expected that in this case, the size of the Windows 10 21H1 update will not exceed 100 MB.

It is assumed that soon, Windows 10 21H1 will begin testing in the Microsoft Insider Program framework, and the wide distribution of the update will be launched in the second quarter of this year.
