Microsoft has not only acknowledged the problem with printers in a recent update to Windows 10, but also posted instructions on how to deal with this problem.

While the proposed solution is not the simplest, and the cause of the problem will be fixed in the next update in the coming weeks. 

A Microsoft spokesman confirmed that the company is aware of the issue after cumulative updates in the following versions:

KB5000802 (Windows 10 version 2004 and 20H2) KB5000803 (Windows Server) KB5000808 (Windows 10 version 1909) KB5000809 (Windows 10 version 1809) KB5000822 (Windows 10 version 1803).

As Microsoft points out in the document, the problem occurs with devices with type 3 print drivers and does not affect those using type 4 drivers. The Command Prompt instruction is explained in a dedicated video .
