This opportunity is missed in most browsers, including the most popular Google Chrome. Now Microsoft has kept its promise – sidebar search has begun to proliferate for the stable version of Microsoft Edge. Users will be able to find the innovation in Microsoft Edge version 87.0.664.5 and higher.
The sidebar allows you to search for text on the Internet without leaving the currently open tab. The search is performed using the proprietary Bing search engine. The panel displays links and cards of web pages. To open the panel, you need to select a word or phrase, open the context menu, and select Search in the sidebar. There is also a keyboard shortcut for quick access. Alternatively, you can navigate to the sidebar directly from the address bar.
The feature will gradually become available to all Microsoft Edge 87 users. The feature has been tested on Windows 10, Windows 7, and macOS platforms.
