Microsoft has named known issues for Xbox Series X and Series S. Fixes will come with software updates

Tomorrow will be the start of sales of the new generation Xbox Series X and Series S game consoles from Microsoft. Prior to the launch of the consoles, the company posted a list of known bugs and issues that buyers may encounter after the first turn on the consoles.

Perhaps the most visible problem early adopters of Microsoft’s new game consoles may face is distorted images or no signal on the TV. It may occur when the set-top box settings are set to 4K resolution, the frame rate is at 120 FPS and the dynamic frame rate function is activated. According to the company, owners of LG, Samsung, and Vizio TVs may face a problem even if the TVs themselves officially support these settings. Updating the TV’s software may resolve the issue. In the absence of a positive result, Microsoft recommends lowering the output resolution in the set-top box settings. The company also adds that when recording a game with HDR active, the image may appear too dark.

One of the most important features of the new Xbox Series X and Series S consoles is Quick Resume, which allows you to keep several running games in the background and almost instantly return to any of them, even if the console is turned off. Microsoft notes that this feature has problems with “some games,” so Quick Resume is not guaranteed to work perfectly at launch. The manufacturer is already working on a software update.

It is also noted that the EA Play application for these consoles will not be available at the start of the Xbox Series X and Series S. You won’t be able to install it yet. At the same time, existing EA Play subscriptions will continue to work, with free trials and full games included in the subscription available through the Microsoft Store.

The BBC iPlayer app will not be available to consumers of media for a while. Microsoft has not yet concluded the necessary agreement to support the application with new set-top boxes and is working on this issue. Occasional graphics artifacts may appear in the PeacockTV application. Otherwise, it will work as expected. Xbox Series X and Series S owners who choose to use them to watch DVD or Blu-ray movies may experience black screen issues. As a recommendation, Microsoft recommends that you eject your digital media and then restart it. The company promises to solve all of the above problems as part of future software updates for consoles.
