The game is still very far from release.
Bethesda’s upcoming Starfield game is known to be a PC and Xbox exclusive. However, perhaps this still does not mean that The Elder Scrolls VI will eventually not be released on the PlayStation either. At least the statement of the head of Xbox Phil Spencer gives reason to believe so.
I think we haven’t decided which platforms it will launch on yet given how far the game has come. It’s hard for us to decide right now… It’s so far away that it’s even hard to understand what the platforms will be like at the moment
It is worth noting here that, according to all available data, the successor to Skyrim is at an early stage of development, so it will not be released very soon.
Interestingly, Spencer also revealed why and how Microsoft actually bought ZeniMax from Bethesda.
Microsoft has not yet decided the fate of The Elder Scrolls VI exclusivity
When we acquired ZeniMax, one of the incentives for doing so was that Sony made a deal with Deathloop and Ghostwire… to pay Bethesda not to release those games on Xbox. So the discussion was about Starfield. When we heard that Starfield could potentially end up not coming to Xbox, we knew we couldn’t be in the third place console position where we were further behind in our content ownership, so we had to secure content to remain viable in business
That is, relatively speaking, it was a preemptive strike in order to protect yourself. At least that’s what Spencer says now. However, here it is worth remembering that from the very beginning he stated that it was not about exclusives at all, and then, when it became known that Starfield would just be exclusive, he said that it was for them that Bethesda was bought.
