Microsoft has recognized a problem with notifications about a missing Internet connection in Windows 10 (2004)

In May of this year, Microsoft released Windows 10 (2004) or Windows 10 May 2020 Update, which brought new features and general performance improvements. However, some users after installing the update encountered various kinds of problems, many of which are currently fixed. One of the remaining unresolved issues has finally been officially recognized by Microsoft, which means that the company has begun work to fix it.

We are talking about an incorrect notification in the form of a yellow triangle, indicating that there is no connection to the Internet. This message is displayed on the computers of some users in the notification panel when the device is correctly connected to the router, but the operating system seems to be unable to establish a connection.

“ I rebooted my laptop, reset the router and reinstalled the wireless adapter, but the message still remained,” reported one of the users experiencing this issue.

It should be noted that the mentioned notification is false and is displayed even in cases when the Internet connection is established. It will not interfere with web browsing, but it may interfere with some programs. This is because apps like Spotify, Cortana, Microsoft Store, or Feedback Hub rely on system internet status to run. This means that they may stop working even when there is Internet access.

Microsoft has confirmed this issue. She is currently under active research. It is assumed that false notifications about the lack of an Internet connection will be eliminated with the release of the next cumulative update.
