Microsoft President urged regulators to look at Apple policies

Some time ago, Microsoft President Brad Smith spoke to the antitrust committee of the US Congress in a case two decades ago. As it turns out, during this conversation, he urged the US regulatory authorities to look at Apple’s policy regarding its own app store.

Bloomberg clarifies that an antitrust hearing is due next Monday, to which executives from Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and Google will be invited. At the meeting of the antimonopoly body, issues related to the competition policy of all listed companies will be considered. Apparently, the Microsoft representative wished to draw the attention of regulatory authorities to the established practice of providing developers with access to the application store for Apple devices.

According to Brad Smith, according to the source, Apple’s practice is a much more serious barrier to free competition than Microsoft’s policy on software for the Windows operating system. High commissions and selective approvals for software applications should alert Apple auditors, the source said. In Europe, the company has already been criticized by antitrust authorities for overly high fees for developers wishing to distribute their applications through Apple’s branded online store
