Microsoft releases emergency update to fix Blue Screens of Death issue in Windows 10

Installing cumulative updates for Windows 10 that Microsoft released in January and February of this year, in a number of cases, leads to the appearance of operating system malfunctions, including the appearance of blue screens of death (BSOD). To solve this problem, the developers have prepared an emergency update, the distribution of which has already begun.

Microsoft previously confirmed that installing recent cumulative updates for Windows 10 is causing problems on “a small number of devices.” According to the available data, in addition to the appearance of BSODs, in a number of cases there are problems with the connection of the device to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

Microsoft started rolling out an emergency update this week that will fix the BSOD issue after installing KB4598298 and KB4601315. Crash update KB5001028 is intended to address the issue of blue screens of death that sometimes occur when trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network, or when waking up from sleep mode.

It is noted that the mentioned update will only be available on devices that are affected by the problem. To get it, you just need to check for available updates using Windows Update or find it in the Microsoft update catalog. According to the available data, the problem affects a small proportion of users of the Windows software platform.

It’s worth noting that this week Microsoft also released another security patch and fixed a vulnerability in Microsoft Defender antivirus that had been present in the product for about 12 years.
