According to this data, Intel-versions of the laptop, not surprisingly, will be based on the Core i5-1145G7 and Core i7-1185G7 processors of the Tiger Lake generation. As for the models with AMD chips, it seems that users will have to be content with the previous generation processors. Surface Laptop 4 is said to offer Ryzen 4000 processors based on Zen 2 architecture, while laptops with Ryzen 5000 chips based on Zen 3 architecture are already available on the market.

As with the Surface Laptop 3, AMD is expected to provide Microsoft with exclusive versions of its chips for new laptops, which will receive the Microsoft Surface Edition prefix to the name. The Ryzen 5 4680U and Ryzen 7 4980U are reportedly available to choose from.

Another interesting point is that the Surface Laptop’s maximum configurations on Intel will include 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. In contrast, in AMD versions, up to 16 GB of RAM will be available, and the maximum SSD capacity will be 512 GB.

In terms of design, the Surface Laptop 4 is expected to retain the previous model’s look and feel. However, it is rumored that 13-inch models based on AMD processors will be available to users now. In the Surface Laptop 3, customers looking to purchase the Ryzen version only have a 15-inch model available.
