Microsoft to add function to solve math equations in Edge browser

Today it became known that Microsoft is testing the Math Solver feature, which will help solve math problems right inside the Edge browser window. So far, only a few users of the special beta version of the Edge Canary browser, intended for testing, have access to it.

Information about this appeared on the official Microsoft website in the Edge Insider section. You can check the availability of the function in the “Settings -> Appearance” menu. If available, the Show Math Solver button should appear. After that, in the upper right corner next to the “Downloads” icon, there will be an icon with a mathematical equation, clicking on which will open a window with the problem’s input.

You can enter equations by typing on the keyboard or pasting a screenshot. If Math Solver appears in the public browser, then the function will be beneficial for students or engineers who need to solve math problems on the fly. This will help improve work efficiency by reducing the need to use third-party services.

In addition to the result, the extension can demonstrate a step-by-step solution to the problem and recommend videos accompanying the equation type. As noted by the Neowin portal, Math Solver’s functionality resembles the Wolfram Alpha service, which was launched back in 2009 and is the most popular in its segment.
