Microsoft unveils new Windows 10 Start menu concept

Microsoft has decided to redefine the look and feel of Windows 10 with modern icons, a redesigned Start menu, and other Fluent Design improvements. The company has released a short video that also demonstrates the concept of the Start Menu with vibrant animation and redesigned elements.

It was assumed that Microsoft intends to smooth the corners of the Start menu tiles, getting rid of the sharp edges. The new video indicates that the developers are considering introducing another aesthetic update that matches the new concept.

This video shows you what the Start menu might look like if vibrant Fluent Design-style effects were implemented around live tiles. Microsoft’s new concept uses different icons and a drop shadow effect to help elements stand out. In addition, you can see a new Action Center icon on the taskbar in the video.

It should be noted that this concept and the Start menu are not intended to be used in the final product that will be available to users of the operating system. The developers are currently considering various options for changing the Start menu to better match the Windows 10 tiled interface. One design option involves using a bright rainbow effect behind transparent tiles in both light and dark modes.
