Microsoft will get rid of the “Timeline” in Windows 10

Microsoft has announced the imminent end of support for the “Timeline” feature in Windows 10, designed to ensure data synchronization between computers and mobile devices based on Android and iOS. According to reports, the ability to sync is disabled in Windows 10 build 21359, which was recently made available to members of the Insider Program.

The Timeline was announced in 2017 and was supposed to be a highly sought-after tool. The feature allows you to open recently viewed documents and sites on synchronized devices, making it easier to work with the same content on different platforms. This feature is closely related to the voice assistant Cortana, which automatically prompts users to return to performing any tasks when switching to using synchronized devices. Last month, Microsoft ended support for Cortana on the Android and iOS mobile platforms, so it’s no surprise that, following the voice assistant, the developers decided to ditch the Timeline feature.

While the ability to sync data across devices will disappear, the timeline and user history will still be stored in the Timeline interface on a local Windows 10 device. It’s also worth noting that this feature was removed from Microsoft Launcher for Android last year. … Most likely, in the future, the Timeline feature will be completely removed from Windows 10.
