Can read but not call
Onyx International has introduced a new reader. And if most e-books are in quite a book format, which is great for reading, but not for carrying in your pocket, then Onyx Boox Palma solves this problem.
The dimensions of the reader are 159 x 80 x 8.0 mm, which are familiar to modern smartphones; the device can fit in a pocket or handbag. It is equipped with a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta display with a resolution of 824 x 1648 pixels (300 dpi).
Miniature reader: smartphone-sized Onyx Boox Palma reader introduced
The gadget looks like a phone, but it does not have a cellular modem. There is only support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Other specs include Qualcomm’s octa-core SoC, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 3950mAh battery, speakers, and Android 11 operating system.
Other features include a rear camera for taking photos (but no front camera for selfies or video calls), a set of customizable side buttons, and a backlit touchscreen display that supports brightness and color temperature adjustments. There is a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
The Onyx Boox Palma reader is available for pre-order for $250 and should start shipping in August 2023. Protective case included. With the launch of open sales, the price will rise to $280.
