Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2 will not receive MIUI 13
It was speculated that Xiaomi might provide the first details about the MIUI 13 branded shell at a developer conference earlier this month, but the announcement did not take place.
MIUI 13 will be released in Q2 2021, but Xiaomi Mi 8 owners shouldn’t wait for the firmware
Now Manx, the supermoderator of Xiaomi’s official community, confirmed last week that MIUI 13 is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2021. This information was obtained directly from the developers.
MIUI 12 was officially unveiled in April this year, so Xiaomi may well launch MIUI 13 beta testing a year later. It is unknown which smartphones will be the first to receive MIUI 13 out of the box. Still, it can be assumed that beta testing will start on the future flagships Xiaomi Mi 11 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro, which, according to the latest rumors, are expected to be released in January next year.
As for MIUI 13, Xiaomi previously said that the new skin would continue to focus on improving the user interface’s animation and smoothness while developing the super wallpaper function (users can create their own super wallpaper), offering completely new features.
Sources also confirmed that the list of smartphones that should receive MIUI 13 does not include Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi Mix 2, and many other models. This is in line with the previously published list.
