On Metacritic, the PC version of Mafia: Definitive Edition scores 78 out of 100 after 25 reviews. With PS4, almost the same – 76 points, and 21 reviews. Critics who tested the project on Xbox One gave 82 points, but there are fewer reviews – only 10. Below are excerpts from the materials of journalists.

Windows Central (90 out of 100): “Powerful characters, detailed storytelling, and stunning graphics make Mafia: Definitive Edition one of the best story-driven games of the year

Jeuxvideo.com (80 out of 100): “Mafia is finally back to its former glory, and this remake is a good starting point for those looking to immerse themselves in a more forgiving game. At the same time, fans will appreciate the makeover, which does not betray the original experience, although it feels dated in places

Gamer.nl (65 out of 100): “Mafia: Definitive Edition is enough to bring back fond memories, but it won’t let newbies understand why the original is considered legendary

4Players.de (57 out of 100): “The remake stays true to the original, but the mechanics and narrative feel terribly dated, giving the impression that this is a remaster that has failed to reach its full potential
