They are not as thick, but still very long.
GeForce RTX 30 video cards are on average quite large. RTX 40 models, despite lower power consumption, are usually not more compact, and sometimes even larger. And this applies to both length and thickness. MSI is going to solve this problem at least halfway. It launched the Gaming Slim line, which will include thinner-than-usual RTX 40 3D cards.
Apparently, MSI is going to release Gaming Slim versions for almost all models of the RTX 40 line. At least the company’s announcement mentions all cards from the RTX 4060 Ti to the RTX 4090. However, the RTX 4070 Ti, 4070 and 4060 Ti will be the first to hit the market.

The last two will only take up two expansion slots, but the first one will still require 2.5 slots. However, it is better than many other similar cards that take up three or more slots.
There will be many Slim models. For each of the above cards, MSI is preparing four Slim modifications, but the differences will only be in color and factory overclocking.
As you can see, the issue of the length of the MSI Slim card is not resolved, since even the RTX 4060 Ti Gaming Slim, despite its very modest power consumption, is characterized by a length of 307 mm.
