Such APUs have not even been introduced yet
AMD hasn’t even unveiled the Ryzen 7040U mobile APUs yet, but it’s clear that these will be great APUs for portable game consoles. And one such console has already appeared on the Web.
The new generation of GPD Win Max will be based on the Ryzen 7 7840U. It will receive eight Zen 4 cores and a Radeon 780M iGPU with 768 stream processors. This is the same as the Radeon 680M, but, firstly, the new solution is based on the RDNA 3 architecture, and secondly, judging by the Ryzen 7040H/HX, we should expect higher frequencies. As a result, the performance gain should be very noticeable.
Much more powerful and modern than Steam Deck.
This addition will definitely come in handy for the set-top box, since it will receive a Full HD screen, that is, compared with the same Steam Deck, the GPD console will be much more powerful, but the load on the GPU due to the screen resolution will be significantly higher.
