To announce it is the same player, JJ Redick retires from basketball played at 37 and after 15 NBA seasons.
For Duke University’s product, 940 games among NBA pros and a career averaging 12.8 points with 41.5% three-point shooting, Redick were one of the best shooters of his era, including Orlando Magic, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans and briefly Dallas Mavericks.

During the 2021 NBA off-season and transfer market, JJ Redick announced his decision not to seek an NBA contract earlier this year, and to reserve the right to evaluate his position and return to the field later in the season. Things obviously changed quickly for JJ who decided to hang up his boots for good.

“ The last season was difficult for many reasons, injuries, Covid, being away from my family, and not being able to play at the level I wanted. I would define the last year as realizing for 7 long months of my mortality as an athlete, and it was quite scary and hard ”.
