The South Korean concern Hyundai Motor expects to significantly strengthen its position as a result of the redistribution of the automotive market. The company has already become the largest supplier of passenger cars on hydrogen fuel cells; it is also not going to take over the electric car segment without a fight. In February, the IONIQ 5 crossover will be released, which will be able to overcome up to 450 km on a single charge.

The leakage of data on the technical characteristics of the novelty occurred through the fault of the manufacturer itself, according to the Electrek edition. In the current generation, the Ioniq model can be equipped with various types of power plants, but in the future, this name will be given to a subsidiary brand, under which exclusively electric vehicles will be sold. In the next quarter, the compact crossover IONIQ 5 on electric traction should debut, its basic characteristics on the eve accidentally became public.

A vehicle with dimensions of 4460 × 1890 × 1600 mm will boast a wheelbase of 3000 mm and all-wheel drive. The power plant with a capacity of 313 horsepower will allow the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds. On a single charge, an electric car will be able to travel up to 450 km according to the conditional WLTP cycle. It will be possible to charge the traction battery both from a single-phase household network through a device with a capacity of up to 2.3 kW, and from a special charger with a capacity of 11 kW. Relying on 800-volt electrical engineering, the machine will replenish the charge from the DC station from 20 to 80% in fifteen minutes.

It is noted that the IONIQ 5 can be used as a mobile source of electricity, although the capacity of the traction battery and its type has not yet been specified. The formal debut of the crossover is scheduled for February next year, deliveries to customers will begin a few months later.
