In an interview with the TASS agency, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, shared details about the progress of the Russian-Chinese project to create a CR929 wide-body passenger aircraft. According to him, the production model will appear after 2030.
“ The work that is going on on the wide-body aircraft has a planning horizon after 2030 ,” Manturov said.
New Tu-214 aircraft will begin to be assembled only in 2024
“ I’m talking about a new wide-body aircraft, one that’s being developed in partnership with the Chinese. Plus, TsAGI is conducting research (research work) on a new car, with the placement of engines not under the wing, as in the classic version. Somewhere in 2027-2028, they should get a technology demonstrator, and then go to R & D (experimental design work) , ” he added.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also spoke on the subject of the passenger Tu-214. “ Deliveries of Tu-214s are made annually, another question is that these were deliveries only for special aviation. Today we are talking about increasing production volumes and deliveries to airlines specifically for commercial operation. That is, this year it will most likely be previously operated aircraft modified for these tasks, next year we will begin deliveries of new ones. Our goal is to reach 10 aircraft by 2025, and in 2026-2027, it is possible to reach 20 aircraft , ” said Denis Manturov.
