Nintendo to Release New Battle Royale on Switch – Now Set in the Pac-Man Universe
Bandai Namco Entertainment and Nintendo have announced a joint project – Pac-Man 99 Battle Royale exclusively for Nintendo Switch, in the style of the previously released Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35.
As with the two projects mentioned, Pac-Man 99 will be available exclusively to subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online’s paid service. The release is expected on April 8 at 4:00 Moscow time.
In the Russian segment of Nintendo eShop, the Pac-Man 99 page had not yet appeared at the time of publication of the material, and therefore it will not be possible to preload the game (at least not yet).
The gameplay basis in Pac-Man 99 remained unchanged – players in the role of Pacman still need to eat all the points in the maze while avoiding meeting the ghosts chasing the hero.
Simultaneously with a specific user, 98 more people will be engaged in the same, against which you can use eight different strategies: acceleration, sending rivals “silencers” (by eating ghosts), and so on.
Pac-Man 99 itself will be free, but players will be able to purchase additional paid content such as alternative themes (for example, based on Xevious, Galaga, or Dig Dug) and offline modes.
Unlike Super Mario Bros. 35, which was only available from October 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021, for Pac-Man 99, the distribution period is not limited by any time frame.
