Orders are accepted until June 26
In recent years, the packaging of computer components does not shine with either variety or some kind of design refinement. However, AMD at one time decided to release the Ryzen Threadripper CPU is rather unusual boxes.
No more beautiful boxes for Intel processors. The company will stop supplying its CPUs in unusual packaging in the form of a dodecahedron
In response, Intel released the Core i9-9900K in a dodecahedron-shaped package. Later, Core i9-9900KS came out in the same package. Reportedly, Intel will soon stop accepting orders for the CPU in such packages. The company’s customers can place orders by June 26th. After that, the packaging will be replaced by the usual, typical for all Intel CPUs.
One of the reasons for this step of Intel is the complexity of transportation since complex packaging requires special boxes, and packing them in such a box is less than the CPU in ordinary packages, that is, you can transport fewer products at a time.
In addition, Intel’s decision is most likely due to the release of the Comet Lake-S line of processors. Whether the company will experiment with packaging in the near future, one can only guess.
