Sony has not been included in the lists of smartphone market leaders for a long time and sells quite small quantities of its devices. One would think that Sony will eventually abandon this market, as did the same LG, but this will not happen in the near future.
No, Sony will not leave the smartphone market for at least a few more years.
At least that’s what Qualcomm’s press release indicates, where the company announced that it has entered into a multi-year partnership with Sony.
The document says that Sony will use Qualcomm platforms to create smartphones in different price categories. True, the budget segment is not mentioned there. The period for which the companies entered into cooperation is not specified, but Qualcomm speaks of a multi-year partnership.
Thus, at least in the next few years, Sony is not going to leave the smartphone market. But whether she is going to change something in her approach to this market is an interesting question.
