New Lada models will be produced there
The former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg (Nissan Manufacturing Rus LLC), which became the property of AvtoVAZ, may be called Lada St. Petersburg. AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov spoke about this on the sidelines of the RUIE congress.
This name must be properly approved, not only on the board and, let’s say, the board of directors of AvtoVAZ, but also with the government of St. Petersburg in accordance with regional legislation. We have made such a proposal. I hope that it will be positively considered in the near future.
Not Nissan, but Lada St. Petersburg. AvtoVAZ chose a new name for the plant
Nissan’s Petersburg plant, designed to produce 100,000–110,000 vehicles a year, has been idle since March 2022. The Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano crossovers were produced at this site, but it faced interruptions in the supply of components, and at the end of November it was sold by NAMI with an option to repurchase within the next six years. In February, AvtoVAZ acquired the plant for the price of 1 euro.
At least three new Lada models will be produced at this site this year.
