NVIDIA confirmed to release GeForce RTX 3060 with new mining limiter in mid-May

NVIDIA has released a new version of the GeForce Game Ready graphics driver 466.27 WHQL. One of its interesting features was found in the description – it included support for the new mining limiter for the GeForce RTX 3060 video card.

It has recently been repeatedly reported that NVIDIA will start shipping updated GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards in mid-May. They will be based on the updated GPU GA10X-XX2, which will contain a hardware mining limiter and built-in support for RezisableBAR technology. The only Ampere series graphics card that will not receive a mining limiter will be the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 model.

In the new version of the graphics driver, NVIDIA has confirmed its intention to release a new version of the GeForce RTX 3060 with an updated mining limiter. ” This driver updates the hash rate limiter for the GeForce RTX 3060 and is required for a product that will ship in mid-May, ” NVIDIA said in its description.

The new version of the GeForce RTX 3060 is expected to be based on the GPU GA106-302. The video card will receive a new PCI Device ID 2504. Thus, it will not allow using the old graphics drivers for the previous version of the GeForce RTX 3060.

NVIDIA is probably trying to divert the attention of miners from this model of the graphics accelerator and switch it to new specialized video cards for mining of the CMP HX series.
