But it really helps to get rid of problems

Yesterday Nvidia released the GeForce Game Ready 456.55 WHQL graphics driver, which, among other things, should improve the stability of some games on GeForce RTX 3000 graphics cards.

Nvidia has fixed the GeForce RTX 3080 by making it slower. New driver reduces GPU frequencies

Recall that the problem with the stability of the RTX 3080 is hardware – it is associated with the capacitor group on the back of the PCB. However, it can be at least more solved programmatically. The fact is that this very problem arises not because of the capacitors themselves, but due to the fact that the SP-Cap elements (previously referred to as POSCAP) do a poor job at very high frequencies. That is, the frequencies can be reduced.

Nvidia’s new driver does just that, although it doesn’t mention lower frequencies. RTX 3080 owners have noticed that after updating the driver under the load of the GPU, their adapters are working at reduced frequencies. For example, one of the owners of MSI Ventus dropped the frequency from 2100 to 2010 MHz. And it helped. For many, the frequencies dropped below 2000 MHz.

And although many users benefit from such an update, owners of cards with MLCC capacitors have not experienced any problems before, but now they have gotten somewhat slower cards. However, the drop in performance, in this case, is unlikely to be at all significant.
