NVIDIA has set the date of presentation of its latest news in the field of video cards (and not only) to 14 May. He gave the news with a brief press release with which confirms that these are the announcements prepared in view of the GTC 2020 that should have been held on March 23 last year, but that has been postponed due to the pandemic.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (opening photo) will illustrate the news, who will illustrate the Company’s most recent progress in the field of artificial intelligence technologies, high-performance computing, data science, autonomous driving, healthcare and professional graphics. A very large object that does not imply the launch of consumer products from the GeForce range.

The expression ” Get Amped ” in the press release, however, suggests that NVIDIA could raise the curtain on the 7nm Ampere architecture at the base (also) of future video cards for gamers – the hypothetical chats and GeForce RTX 3080 and 3070 that have down left a trace in the form of noise.

NVIDIA is however clear in stating that it will start with the proposals for the professional user, therefore probably with the GPUs of the Quadro and Tesla lines (for the server market). After all, giving priority to server products makes a lot of sense at this stage: think of the efforts that companies engaged in the emerging cloud gaming market are making – according to recent rumours, for example, Google is working to enhance Stadia with an update of the server.

On the other hand, NVIDIA, as regards consumer products, in the desktop segment with the RTX 2080 Ti is still firmly in command and in the laptop segment, it has recently renewed the offer with the RTX 2080 SUPER and 2070 SUPER. What is certain is that a generational leap would give a further boost to the particularly resource-hungry ray tracing technology and on which the manufacturer is continuing to invest both directly ( see the announcement of the DLSS 2.0 technology from which ray tracing finds great benefit) and in collaboration with partners ( the Minecraft RTX beta gave us the opportunity to experience the benefits of “real” ray tracing – the path tracing) “.

The keynote will be published on May 14th at 3:00 pm on the official NVIDIA YouTube channel; it will not be a presentation streamed live but a pre-recorded video that will kick off the full digital version of the GTC consisting of a series of presentations, podcasts and demos, all published online.
