The rumor mill ( Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and Nvidia 3090 Ti | ) has been brewing for some time about new Ampere models, now the date for two new Nvidia graphics cards is set. After the rather secret release of the GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB a few days ago, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 16 GB and the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will follow in January.

The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB will be officially presented on December 17th and will then be available from January 11th. In terms of specifications, the graphics card should be completely identical to a normal GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, but with 16 GB it should have twice the GDDR6X memory expansion. Videocardz claims to have found out from a reliable source. A few days ago January 27 was already traded as the date for the RTX 3050.

Release in January, announcement maybe earlier

The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will then become the new flagship model and thus either expand the Ampere portfolio upwards or completely replace the current GeForce RTX 3090. Unlike the smaller model, Videocardz does not know anything about a public presentation, but the product availability should be on January 27th.

This means that the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti would appear a little more than 2 weeks after the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB. ComputerBase has already summarized the presumed technical specifications of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti in an older report. Unlike the other newcomer, the memory expansion will probably remain the same with a full 24 GB, but there will be more shaders, more clocks, higher power consumption, and thus more speed.

There are bigger question marks around the RTX 3080 12 GB

On the other hand, it is still completely unclear what the situation is with a GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, which has been speculated for some time. The current GeForce RTX 3080 somehow hardly fits into the portfolio, with only 10 GB the memory is too small, especially considering the 16 GB of the new RTX 3070 Ti and the 12 GB of the GeForce RTX 3060.

With 12 GB, the VRAM situation would still be a bit confused with Nvidia, but at least a little better solved than it is currently.

However, all specifications for the graphics card are currently missing, and a release date is still unclear. However, Nvidia cannot wait too long with the possible release, if the graphics card appears at all. Because in the course of the second half of 2022 is the successor to the current amp generation called Lovelace to be expected.
