Compared to February, sales jumped almost 10 times
The Moscow Automobile Plant had not previously commented on the sales of Moskvich cars in any way, but there was nothing special to comment on, since in February, according to PPK JSC, only 57 Moskvich 3 and Moskvich 3e were sold in total. But now, for the first time, the general director of the enterprise, Dmitry Pronin, spoke about sales.
Officially: 500 petrol Moskvich 3 cars were sold in March. And it’s a big hit
“ March was closed for us, in my opinion, with a good figure of just over 500 cars ,” he said on the air of the “Evening Arrival” program on Chanson radio. According to the top manager, since the start of assembly of the Moskvich 3 (aka JAC JS4 with a re-glued nameplate) in November 2022, more than 7,000 Moskvich 3 vehicles have been produced. In total, this year the plant plans to produce 50 thousand cars (of which 10 thousand are Moskvich 3e electric cars).
I must say that the official data is somewhat at odds with the data of Avtostat: it was reported that in March 2023, dealers sold 375 Muscovites. It is possible that the plant itself takes into account deliveries to large customers, which can be carried out bypassing the dealer network. For example, this is how cars can be delivered to the traffic police .
Also on the radio “Chanson” Dmitry Pronin said that by the end of April, Moskvich cars could be included in the state program of preferential car loans .
