OnePlus Buds Announced – Fully Wireless Headphones For € 89 With Dolby Atmos Support

Along with the mid-range smartphone OnePlus Nord, OnePlus Buds headphones are also presented. For those who have followed the teasers and leaks, their appearance will not come as a surprise. But the price can: after all, these are one of the most affordable fully wireless advanced headphones today with a recommended price of $ 79 and € 89 – for the American and European markets.

Outwardly, they resemble Apple AirPods and also have a touch panel at the end with customizable controls on the smartphone. A convenient function is an automatic pause: just remove one of the earbuds from the ear and playback will pause, return within three minutes – and it will continue. But unfortunately, one earbud cannot be used for calls – they work only in pairs.

There is only one size available, and there are no silicone pads, so they will not always stick well in the ears: depending on anatomy. The earbuds also have an IPX4 waterproof rating, which means they are not afraid of splashes and sweat.

Three built-in microphones provide suppression of external noise. But the feature, as noted by Engadget reviewers, does not work well: it does not filter unwanted sounds well. However, the interlocutor will not encounter the problem of background hiss or indistinct voice. Despite the large 13.4mm drivers, the earbuds deliver mediocre sound quality (likely due to the lack of sealing in the ear canal) and are more suitable for podcasting than listening to music. But it’s worth noting that OnePlus hasn’t released the final software yet, so the advertised bass boost may not be activated. It is also possible that in the future the situation will be improved by the equalizer on OnePlus smartphones.

The earbuds can operate autonomously for 7 hours and up to 30 hours when recharging from the battery built into the case. No wireless charging. However, the convenience of use will provide a faster Warp Charge for the case: 10 hours of playtime in just 10 minutes. A full charge will take about 80 minutes according to OnePlus.

It is worth noting support for Dolby Atmos, which is designed to improve the perception of surround sound when listening to relevant materials. SBC and AAC codecs are supported, and better ones like apt-X HD were not available due to the use of a chipset other than Qualcomm.

Supports Android quick connect function, linking to a Google account, reporting the battery level of the headphones and case, and finding a lost earbud by playing sound.

OnePlus Buts will be available in the US starting July 27 in white and later in dark gray, with an additional blue paint available in Europe and India. Pre-orders are already open.
